Ceramics

During my residency at Craigardan in Elizabethtown, NY, as the 2024 Teaching Fellow and ceramics artist in residence, I found profound inspiration in the natural surroundings of the Adirondacks. Each day, I walked from my cabin to the studio, deeply immersed in the landscape that enveloped me.

My hands became my tools, clay my medium. With a commitment to presence, I embarked on creating a vase that echoes the essence of my daily walks. Every coil and contour of the vessel reflects the dirt roads, towering trees, scattered stones, delicate pebbles, verdant grasses, vibrant flowers, fluttering butterflies, and playful chipmunks that crossed my path.

As I gazed toward the mountains, mist swirling amidst peaks, clouds drifting overhead, I breathed deeply, grounding myself in the moment. This practice of presence, of aligning with the rhythms of nature, infused my work with a profound sense of connection and wonder. Through my ceramics, I aim to capture and share the beauty and serenity that surrounds us, inviting others to pause, observe, and appreciate the magic of the natural world.
